chiangmai trip, part 5... elephant ride... yeeharrr!!

the elephant ride wasn't at all like what i had imagined... it was anything but smooth!! nevertheless, it was still good fun! as the elephant trudged along the well-used paths, we hung on to dear life... holding on tight to the metal bar in front of us. you see, we were all seated inside this big metal basket, perched precariously over the elephant's rounded back. we were keeping our fingers crossed that the harnesses used to tie the basket down would hold and not snap!

not a very good day for elephant rides, as you can see... everyone had their brollies up, which makes for quite a colourful sight! :-) thankfully, daddy had good strong hands, holding up our brolly pretty well... i didn't get wet at all!!
despite the challenging conditions, we still managed to stop for a quick group photo. this nice shot was taken by uncle ivan from atop his elephant... :-) the background scenery was very picturesque and serene...
here's grandma and auntie lillian... cousin emily is hidden from the pic... but one thing for sure, all three of them were wet!
ahhh, nothing like sitting down together for a nice lunch after a tiring elephant ride! this was taken at an in-house restaurant of an orchid garden. too bad we didn't get to see the nice orchid flowers, as it was raining non-stop throughout the whole day. meanwhile, let me take a nap first... ahh, mommy's shoulder is so comfy... zzz... zzzz....

mommy and daddy took me for a short tour of the orchid garden when the rained stopped a little. not that i noticed... too tired... *yawn* better to get back to sleep... zzzzzzzz

some of the "good stuff" that i missed... very nice flowers, right?
