chiangmai trip, part 6... a walk in town

on the third day of our visit, i went for a stroll around chiangmai town with mommy and daddy. the streets were a bit dusty, and the weather warm. thankfully my stroller had a useful li'l hood that kept the sun out of my face.
the Old City of Chiangmai is actually a giant square, surrounded by 4 walls that once stood as a mighty fortress in ancient times, protecting the city against enemy attacks and raids. outside the walls are long stretches of water trenches, or moats. these are surprisingly clean and adds to the picturesque scenery.

this is what remains of the fort walls now. the gate you see is the Tapae Gate.
the original spelling should be "tha phae"... ;-)

throughout the whole city, there were numerous temples, like the one in the picture below.

amongst the many temples that we passed by, this one caught our attention the most, as it was truly majestic, with beautifully sculpted details everywhere. we stopped by this temple and went inside for a tour.

see the nice wooden carvings on this window?

at the end of it all, my nap is what matters the most, really... hehe!! zzz... zzzz...
